Apple iPhone 7 Rumours

Apple iPhone 7 Rumours

Update: Apple event will take place September 7th 2016

iPhone 7 Design & Specs

It’s predicted  Apple will release a new 4.7″ iPhone, the iPhone 7, and a 5.5″ model, the iPhone 7 Plus. If another 4″ iPhone is released to follow in the new SE footsteps, it’s likely this will be iPhone 7 Mini, potentially offering you 3 variants to choose from, however iPhone 6C, iPhone 6E or iPhone 5SE are possibilities too.

The new iPhone is expected to be even thinner, which will possibly be achieved by removing the 3.5mm headphone jack, which may be replaced with lightning-connected Earpods or wireless Earpods. ‘AirPods’ could also come into the mix as a premium alternative to EarPods, with the name already registered by Apple as a trademark. It’s also been suggested that the home button may also be removed, and replaced with new 3D Touch technology found in the iPhone 6S display.

Apple iPhone 7 Rumours

Further rumours include a curved wraparound screen and the possibility of a flexible display. According to reports, Samsung Display is set to make flexible OLED displays for the iPhone 7, a change from the LCD displays currently used in Apple’s iPhone’s. The new display is likely to offer just enough flexibility to curve around the design of the iPhone 7 more accurately, hinting further at an edge-to-edge display.

While a new patent in March 2015 revealed Apple is investigating ways to make future iPhone’s waterproof, a change that never made it to the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. Instead of adding armour to the outside of the iPhone to protect it from water, the method would coat electronic components found inside the iPhone in a protective waterproof material that would prevent them from getting damaged, should water find it’s way in, avoiding any compromise on design. Overall, the iPhone 7 could potentially offer the most drastic design change seen in years.

When it comes to the specs, the iPhone 7 could be in for a huge performance boost, with whispers suggesting the new device will feature a hexa-core A10 chip, replacing the previous dual-core processor packed in the iPhone 6S. It’s also likely Apple’s operating system will be updated to iOS 10 which will be featured in the new iPhone. Finally, the new iPhone may offer a dual camera and wireless charging.

iPhone 7 Price & Release Date – UPDATE

Following tradition, Apple has confirmed their launch event will once again take place in September, after recently sending out invitations.  Featuring the tagline ‘See you on the 7th’, which may give away the name of the iPhone 7, as well as the date. The invites also feature a number of translucent coloured bubbles which could be water droplets to further hint at a waterproof iPhone or an introduction of new coloured handsets.
