The New Google Nexus 6 Rumours

It’s rumoured that the Nexus Smartphone Series will continue with the Google Nexus 6. However it’s yet to be confirmed which third party mobile manufacturer is/will be giving Google a helping hand.

The History of Google Nexus Partners:
• HTC Nexus One: January 2010
• Samsung Nexus S: December 2010
• Samsung Galaxy Nexus: November 2011
• LG Nexus 4: November 2012
• LG Nexus 5: November  2013
• Google Nexus 6: August 2014?

It was the Nexus 4 that truly took off, building the Nexus fan base dramatically. It was the smartphone that broke all the records in terms of sales and price to performance ratio. Not the best smartphone in the market, but the smartphone that offered true value for money. High-quality performance, and specifications at an affordable price. And the Nexus 5 was even better. Based on the past, it’s in Google’s interest to partner once again with LG. And to bring you a further improved, killer smartphone. So, what should you expect from this year’s Nexus?

Design: The last Nexus (5) had a display screen of 4.95”, it’s rumoured the Nexus 6 will be even bigger. Nearing phablet size, with a 5.2” display. The display will have a resolution of 2560 × 1440 pixels, giving you a rather spectacular viewing experience. And the display could actually be even bigger. Some concept designers have speculated that the Nexus 6 will have a display size somewhere between 5.5” and 5.7”! Further rumours speculate that the LCD display will be curved, and protected with Corning Gorilla Glass.

Camera: It’s rumoured that the Nexus 6 will feature a rear camera with either 12 or 13 megapixels. Compared with the 8 Megapixel camera on the Nexus 5, this will be quite an improvement. The front facing camera is likely to be 5 megapixels and have 4K video capture.

Further specs: The Nexus 5 featured the Android KitKat OS. It’s expected the Nexus 6 will feature the latest update to the Android OS to bring you newer functions. Furthermore, rumours claim that Google Nexus 6 will pack a 64-bit version of its Snapdragon 800-series chipset clocked at 3 GHz for high-level efficiency. When it comes to the memory, it’s suggested the Nexus 6 will have 4GB internal ram, and may come in 3 storage variants: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. For connectivity, it’s likely the Google Nexus 6 will be 4G enabled, and equipped with Bluetooth, NFC technology, Micro-USB and Wi-Fi.

Most exciting speculations: Along with massive internal and external improvements, there are further rumours that are truly exciting. Apparently, the Nexus 6 may feature a fingerprint sensor, aswell as a health, atmosphere and thermo sensor. Although this has recently be seen on models such as the Apple iPhone 5S and Samsung Galaxy S5, the Nexus 6 would allow more users to access this technology due to the lower price tag. Further rumours suggest that Google may incorporate Chrome cast mirroring into it’s latest smartphones. The Google Chrome cast TV streaming stick was recently launched, and thus it’s expected that the smartphone will be able to mirror it’s contents onto your TV. Finally, the Nexus 6 may work alongside a smart watch! However you’ll have to watch this space for updates…

Down to business:
Price: The price is yet to be confirmed, however it’s likely Google will stay in tune with it’s affordable price tag, and release the Nexus 6 at around £375.99 sim free.

Release Date: Nothing is confirmed yet, but it is extremely likely that the Google Nexus 6 will be released October/November time this year.
