HMD Global announces 5 new Nokia devices

On February 25th, HMD Global unveiled 5 new Nokia devices: the Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6, Nokia 1 and Nokia 8110.

Nokia 8 Sirocco

The 8 Sirocco is HMD Global’s designated flagship device. Following the popular trend of bezel-less screens as featured in the Samsung Galaxy S9, the 8 Sirocco sports a 5.5” edge-to-edge display with minimal bezels, capable of displaying media at 2K (2560 x 1440) on a p-OLED panel.  Powered by the Snapdragon 835 chip, the Sirocco 8 performance is on par with competing flagship devices including the Google Pixel 2, Samsung Galaxy Note 8, HTC U11 and Sony Xperia XZ Premium. When compared to the previous Snapdragon 821 chip, the 835 chip offers a 30% increase in efficiency, 27% higher performance, and is 40% less battery-consuming. Further specs include 6GB of RAM and a whopping 128GB of storage as standard. The cameras have Carl Zeiss optics with the main snapper having a dual-camera system (12MP and 13MP) while the front facer is 5MP. Finally, other features include an always-on-display, 3,260mAh battery and USB-C charging.

Impressively, the rear-camera features two lenses 12MP and 13MP, capable of optical zoom and low-light snaps. The front facing camera is a massive 16MP in comparison. Both cameras have Carl Zeiss optics. Further features include the latest version of Android – Oreo 8.0, a 3,800mAh battery and rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
